As yet another heat wave with record-breaking temperatures grips much of the country, people are trying to cope as best as they can. Especially young children, the elderly, and those working or exercising outdoors are vulnerable to dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The dangers are real. In recent years more Americans have died from extreme heat than from hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, floods and earthquakes combined.
